Welcome To St Leonard's
The Church on the Hill
St Leonard's is in the diocese of Chichester and the Archdeaconry of Horsham. Our Archdeacon is the Venerable Roger Combes, Archdeacon of Horsham.
The Archdeaconry has a Suffragan Bishop, Mark Sowerby, who acts on behalf of the Diocesan bishop, Bishop John of Chichester and with his authority. The Bishop of Horsham has responsibility for most of West Sussex (apart from Chichester and some parishes to the west of Hove) and for some parishes in East Sussex to the north of Brighton and east of East Grinstead, together with one parish in Kent.
The Church of England plays a vital role in the life of the nation, proclaiming the Christian gospel in words and actions and providing services of Christian worship and praise.
Its network of parishes cover the country, bringing a vital Christian dimension to the nation as well as strengthening community life in numerous urban, suburban and rural settings. Its cathedrals are centres of spirituality and service, and its network of chaplaincies across continental Europe meet important local needs.
The Church of England plays an active role in national life with its members involved in a wide range of public bodies. Twenty-six bishops are members of the House of Lords and are engaged in debates about legislation and national and international affairs. Bishop John, is one of these 'Lord Bishops'.
The Church of England is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. You can find out more about the Church of England by visiting its website The Church of England web site www.cofe.anglican.org
24 April 2011 - Easter Day Easter Sunday this year was the first Easter after welcoming our new priest in charge, Rev Tim Tregunno. Since the arrival of Tim our attendances have steadily increased, Easter Sunday was no exception with over 100 adults and around 15 children attending; the largest Easter Sunday congregation for a good few years.
Following the service everyone was invited to the vicarage where we enjoyed festive fizz, cakes and other goodies. See the gallery for Easter 2011
